Effie O. Burgess, 87, (nee Smith) of Macomb, IL passed away on Sunday July 21, 2024 at the Elms in Macomb. She was born on January 1, 1937 in Danville, IL.
Effie is survived by a son Steve (Patricia) Burgess of Schaumburg, IL and five grandchildren: Megan
Burgess-Garcia (Erick), Katie Burgess, Ryan Burgess (Mallory), Kolette Dunlap (Ashton) and Jessica Herndon. She also was a great-grandmother to five.
She was preceded in death by a son, David W. Burgess; a daughter, Adrienne A. Herndon; and her parents, John Henry and Nellie.
Effie was a long-term resident of Macomb and worked for many years at the former Union National Bank and co-owner of a catering business.
She will be missed by all.
Cremation Rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday July 26, 2024 at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home. Pastor Jim Eddy will officiate. Memorials can be made to Grand Prairie of Macomb. Please sign the guestbook and leave condolences at www.dodsworthfh.com.
